In a hard-fought game played with maximum fighting spirit, as if it was a real league game, Siena surrendered at the tie-break in Santa Croce, one of the favourites of the Serie A2. Siena started off the fifth set with two mistakes on the serve by Fabroni and Russomanno. Tamburo’s hit made it 9-6 for the hosts and two more mistakes from Spadavecchia and Russomanno got Santa Croce closer to victory. Siena would try to ignite a come-back through Benaglia and two points from Patriarca (13-12) but Tamburo would have the last word by scoring the last two points.
