It’s been a superb encounter which took place on Siena’s Volley Day. And Siena fought hard against the vice Italian champions of Perugia, surrendering only in the fifth set. And the atmosphere was marvellous with 3000 fans filling the stands.

In the tie-break, Perugia took an 8-6 lead on a De Cecco block on Chernokozhev. The visitors had the momentum. De Cecco and Chernokozhev were the main stars of this end of game, while Buti found a superb ace. Patriarca made it 11-13. Game ball for Perugia when Padura gets blocked. The hosts resisted to 13-14 as Fabroni stopped Berger but Russell sealed it.
