Monza’s third friendly game of the pre-season ended in a 2-2 draw with Cantù. Still without its internationals, and against Cantù’s full team, Monza could not repeat the 4-0 win of last Thursday. The hosts dominated the first set but Monza sprinted off the starting blocks in the second (9-3) and controlled the set. In a tight third set, Alexandre Caio (21 points) led his tealm to a 2-1 lead before a fourth played to 15 went to Monza on a Botto spike.

Marcello Forni (Middle blocker Gi Group Team Monza): “It’s been an extrememely useful game to understand where we stood in terms of fitness. This is our fifth week of training, we’re a but tired, obviously. Cantù was better than in last week’s game, they stepped up a level and they looked more lively. We have not been very reactive in the first set but we improved as the game wore on and the fact we ended the fourth set with determination is a good sign ».
