Padova reached an agreeement on a two-year deal with setter James Shaw. MVP 2016 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Shaw comes from Stanford University. He made it into USA’s youth teams in 2010, won the bronze in the Under 19 Pan American games in 2011 and won the Norceca Cup in 2012. Born in 1994, he is now part of the senior national team, with which he has just played a friendly with Cuba, and with which he is preparing for the World League. His father is coach at Stanford University, while his sister Jordan is Gael’s beach volley coach and was a player at Saint Mary’s college.

“I started to play volleyball when I was 6 in Stanford’s summer camps – explained the newcomer – And I never stopped. From 2010 to 2013 I took part in the World Championships in Turkey and Argentine with the youth national team, while in 2014 I was in the seniors team that played in the World League. This is extremely exciting for me to come to Europe and Italy for the first time, this will be a special experience as a player as well as a human being. I can’t wait to visit Padova, Italy is well known all over the world for its great history and culture, I’m looking forward to learn about it. The SuperLega is the best league in the world, I’ll be up against some of the best athletes on the planet. This is really exciting”.
