Middle blocker Aidan Zingel helped Australia conquer a first victory in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio. Beaten 3-0 by Iran in the opening encounter, Zingel and co had the better of Venezuela on a 3-1 score. Zingel scored 10 points and finished second scorer of his team. He had 3 spikes, 5 blocks and 2 aces. Australia’s next game will be on Tuesday against Canada.
Meanwhile, on June 8 and 9, the Italian national team of Simone Anzani will take on Serbia and Uros Kovacevic in two friendlies to prepared for the World League.
