Exactly two years ago, on March 16 2014, Padova won its last game of the regular season and celebrated promotion in the SuperLega. Two years later, Padova is on the verge of playing Game 3 of the quarter-final playoffs against Modena. On Sunday, Padova’s win tied the series at 1-1, a special achievement for Baldovin’s men, who will be in Modena on March 20 and back home for game 4 on March 27.
“I remember at the time we needed just two sets to earn promotion – said president Fabio Cremonese – At 2-0 up, I felt an explosion of joy inside and invaded the court with the boys from the bench. The referee scolded me and rightly so but now I remember this scene with a smile. I would never have thought that two years ago I’d have invaded the court again after the victory over Modena in the quarter-final game 2”.
