This summer Daniele Sottile was called back into the Italian national team after years out and he immediately made his mark by helping the team qualify for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio De Janeiro.

“My selection was a bit of a surprise – said the setter after ten years out – It’s been a wonderful experience. We worked hard for two months and we managed to qualify for Rio 2016, which was crucial for us because Italy had gone through a tough period of late. Hopefully, I will continue to be part of this group”. Sottile came back for a couple of days before joining the Italian camp again “I came to the gym on Friday to meet everyone. There was a good feeling from the very beginning. Even if I haven’t been there, I’ve regularly been on the phone with coach Monti to get updated on the situation and I have to say everybody is happy with the way things are going”.
