Padova inked Austrian star Alexander Berger. Born on September 27, 1988 in Aichkirchen, the spiker played last season in the French league at Nantes. Before that he played for years for Innsbruck in his home country, which he helped win the league title in 2014. Berger has already had contact with Padova, it was back in September 2012 when he became Padova’s worst nightmare in a friendly, scoring 20 points and helping his team win 3-1. Last season in France, he scored a total of 224 points in 25 games, among which there were 17 blocks and 21 aces. Alexander is married to the beautiful Croatian swimmer Mirna Jukic (who got the Austrian citizenship) who won the bronze medal in breaststroke at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

“I can’t wait to come to Padova – said the new signing – This will be my second experience abroad. I have been following the market news and I think the season will be very tough for us, because we’ll play against some of the best athletes around. There will be some intense games, so we’ll have to work hard in the gym. Hopefully we’ll do a good job”.
