Vibo Valentia eventually clinched the Italian Cup A2 thanks to a fair share of tenacity and luck. The Potenza Picena players were defeated by the minimum margin in the tie-break having been superior in every area of the game. They received the applause from the crowd in Chieti.
“I know I played an excellent game, but when you lose like that it’s not enough – said spiker Simmaco Tartaglione – we have been the better team on court as the stats confirmed, but a foul not spotted in the tie-break got us on our knees. In my opinion, we deserved to win the Italian Cup, but the scoreboard says the contrary”.
