Giuseppe Patriarca crosses the sideline to sit on the bench and become part of the coaching staff. Indeed, he decided to hang up his boots although he stays in the game as an assistant to Waldo Kantor and Cristiano Lucchi. In his 20-year career, Patriarca wore the shirts of Modena, Ravenna, Grottazzolina, Verona, Schio, Ferrara, Montichiari, Almeria, Taranto, Cuneo and Sora. Among his trophies, there are one Champions League, 2 CEV Cups, 1 Italian and 1 Spanish league title.
“I have been thinking about this for years – he said – I had followed various coaching courses. This will be a new challenge, hopefully a gratifying one. I will surely have the advantage of knowing the locker room in which I have lived until just a few months ago”. Gabriele Pasquale is the spiker who will take Macerata’s place.
