Big news in Milan: the club managed to bring back strong spiker Robert Horstink back in Italy. Born in 1981, the Dutsch already played for six years in the Serie A1, five of them at Treviso and one in Montichiari. In Italy, he played 191 games, won 115 of them, scoring over 2000 points. In the last two years, he played in Qatar and then in Turkey with Ziraat Bankasi Ankara. Horstink won the Dutsch league titles three times, two national cups and two super cups. He also won the Top Teams Cup in 2003 and the Cev Cup in 2011. In his trophy cabinet there is also a memorable treble in 2007 with the Italian league title, the Italian Cup and the Super Cup.
“I had a few offers abroad but my family lives in the Netherland so I was looking to be close to home and when Milan’s offer came up, it took me just one day to decide – explained Horstink – I have lived for six years in Italy, it’s like my second home. Usually, teams that go up in the top division change completely their roster, I like the fact that Milan’s project has a continuity about it”.
