Great emotions for Verona’s middle blocker this weekend as he made his international debut with the Italian national team. In the latest World League action, Italy was defeated twice in Iran though. On Friday, Anzani registered his first point coming on in the third set, while he scored 11 (2 blocks) two days later as he came on in the first set and played the whole third and fourth set.
“I felt the emotion building up right from the moment I arrived in Teheran’s gym – said the Verona star – In the stands, there were 12 thousand supporters, it was the first time I played in front of such a big and animated crowd, it was unbelievable. Then I came on, and the feeling having that shirt on was unique. My first points scored from a spike in the middle will be difficult to forget”.
