It was July 18, 2012, the deadline on the market, when Fabio Balaso was announced as new libero. Many thought it was a last-minute buy, just to fill the void, somebody who’d train with Garghella. Nothing could have been further from the truth. In two seasons, not only has he deservedly obtained the starting position but he also was one of the main men in the the second place in 12-13, the Italian Cup victory and direct promotion the following season.
“Not afraid at all of the A1 – said Balaso who still has two years on his contract – it’s true that thinking about it is strange but the A1 represents a great motivation, I’m not afraid. It’s clear that the recent seasons have gone beyond my wildest dreams. It’s fantastic to think I’ll be able to play against the greatest players of Italian volleyball. I can’t wait”.
