Out of the title race, Verona is now among the 8 teams that will take part in the Playoffs for fifth place. The winner will earn a place in the Challenge Cup 2014-15. In the quarter-finals, Giani’s men will take on Ravenna with Game 1 scheduled on April 6. They will start away, then play the return leg at home, with the golden set to be played in case of a tie.
“On Thursday we played very well and needed more of the same in game 2 – explained Giani following the knock out in the playoffs quarters against Macerata – Instead, I have to say we had a pretty poor game. I did not expect such a performance, the players have to assume their responsibility, I really think it was possible for us to give Macerata a game at home with our supporters. Now we have a week to forget about it. No matter the opponent in the playoffs for fifth place, we have to show we can really play volleyball”.
