At the end of a tough and hard-fought encounter, Monza went back to winning at the expense of Castellana Grotte, beaten at the tie-break. Things could have gone better, though. Indeed, in the third set Vacondio’s boys had a 20-15 lead which vanished as they eventually lost the set. Still, this victory maintains Monza in the top part of the table. Besides, this was a good game to prepare the Italian Cup semi-final of Saturday 11 against Matera.

“We knew how important it was to win in Castellana today but we made a lot of mistakes – said coach Orested Vacondio – We had some trouble on the serve as well as in reception, which is why we failed to seal it in the third set but then we did a good job of bouncing back, regain control of proceedings and win it at the tie-break”.
