Great performance from Monza as Francesco Pieri was back to face and beat the runner-up of last season’s A1 season, Piacenza (3-1). After a difficult opening set in which the well-organised system of Piacenza prevailed, Monza showed off its quality on the block-dig compartment to eventually come out on top.
“Great determination from the boys on the serve – said scout Roberto Di Maio – They played with courage in attack, we spiked without fear against a great team at the net. Just like against Modena, our dig allowed us to play many counters, which were often converted with success”.
