Itas Diatec Trentino:
Despite the many supporters arrived at the PalaPanini in Modena and despite 2 perfect sets played by Trento, Itas Diatec came out defeated 2-3.
Now Trento is aware that they wasted a great chance but they are also aware that they can play at very high levels and beats Modena.
In the first set Lattari’s team has to renounce to Millar injured at his ankle. The set is very tight since the beginning and, at the secon time out, the score is 16-14. Modena reaches 22-19 but Trento reaction is strong and the score arrives to 23-23 thanks also to a Savani ace. From here the match keeps going point to point until Trento eventually close the set in its favour for 29-31.
Second set starts with Trento advantage up to 9-12, then the home team reaction arrives thanks to Rak and Murek, 15-15. After the second time out Meoni and teammates are ahead again for 18-21. Trento plays amazingly well: blocks and defence work very well and the score reaches 19-25. Trento is ahead now 0-2.
In the third set big Cimone pride reaction and and many Trento mistakes send the teams at the second time out with the score of 16-12. Nothing seems to stop Modena now and, even if Trento is trying to recover points, the score is 21-17 and the set is closed for Modena 25-20.
Also the 4th set starts in Modena favour: 5-2, 7-3, 9-5 and 13-9 for the home team. Modena keeps playing well and at the second time out the score reaches 16-9. Modena looks unstoppable but Trento fought back and get the score tight again: 21-20 and 22-21. Then two Sartoretti aces give virtually the set to Modena.
Tie break is without history and Modena close it 15-9 and wins Game 1.
