Materdomini Volley.It Castellana Grotte: It has been a true derby the one between Teleunit and Materdomini Volley, as it was supposed to be but with a result that punish too much Mater able to fight to each ball and giving up only at the very last part of each set. Sold out with the fans of each team giving a great show. In the first set after a tight beginning, Gioia flies to 10-5 and the break arrives until the second time out when the score is 16-13. But Mater still manages to stay close to Gioia despite a terrible 15% in attack and arrives at 18-18. Set is still open up to 21-21 but then, a Nuzzo mistake (with probably the help of the referees) gives the chance to Gioia to close the set in their favour. Second set starts more or less like the first , 8-7 and 16-15, with Nuzzo leader in one team and Baldaccini in the other; score reaches 20-17 first and 23-20 then. Gioia is able to play better the delicate balls and close also the second set.
Great show also on the third set with great Gioa defenses. Score is 8-6 at the first time out but Nuzzo and Lo Re leads the Grotta ahead 8-10. The match keeps going point to point up to the 17-17. Some Mater mistakes first send the score to 21-17, but then Gioia makes errors as well, 22-21, until the 24-23 when, despite a huge defense try of Mater, the match ends 25-23.
A big disappointment for the hosted team who can take confort with the great performance of the players and also with the other results. Grotta keeps its 7th position. Coach D’Onghia at the end of the match, will be sorry for the too many mistakes made.
