In the Cev Cup, Latina has been drawn with Cska Sofia. Just like its Italian counterparts, Sofia went to the playoffs semi-finals in Bulgaria last season, knocked out by Pirin Balkanstroy 2 games to 1. The league title went to Marek Dupnitsa. The first leg will be in Bulgaria on October 24th, and the return leg will be in Italy on November 1st. While this will be Latina’s full debut in the competition, this is far from being the case for the Bulgarian, which have won the Champions League 1969, the Cup Winners Cup in 1976 as well as 24 national titles, the last one being in 2011.
“I will not make any comment – said coach Prandi – You get drawn against an opponent and then you have to study it and try to know as much as you can. It’s been a very important club in Bulgaria but last season they suffered some financial difficulties”.
