Tomorrow in Molfetta’s PalaPoli arena, Castellana Grotte and Molfetta will start fighting it out for a place in paradise: the A1. The two teams did extremely well in the regular season, finishing second and third. Castellana is given a 1-0 lead in the final series thanks to this second place. This will be a historical final, never before had the final been a derby. The two teams reached this final with totally different runs: Led by Uchikov, Molfetta was newly promoted and turned into the big surprise of the season, while Castellana Grotte was considered one of the big favourites of the championship from day one. The pressure was huge from the start, having to win at all cost, which added to some injuries. Still, Castellana had some great performances, it beat every single team at least once, and remained unbeaten in 3 games (regular season and cup) against the league winners, Perugia.
