Closing a championship with Prata’s sensational performance would have been a beautiful page of history, but there is still a brick missing. A final effort that could still mean the Credem Banca Serie A2 for next year. Banca Macerata Fisiomed is back on the field and it does so by playing at home in the Forum for the last time in the regular season: on the twenty-sixth day of the championship, Consar Ravenna arrives for a match full of meaning. The step towards salvation has been taken – and a very long one at that -, but you must never let go of the helm. Let’s look at the standings.
Macerata, after being the first team to obtain a full victory on Friulian soil, reached 28 points, drawing level with Campi Reali Cantù and maintaining the three-point difference over Conad Reggio Emilia (25 points, also winning in Palmi). This means that salvation is achievable by scoring points internally against Consar; if that doesn’t happen, the red and whites could maintain their category even if Cantù doesn’t get any points or Reggio Emilia doesn’t win 3-0 or 3-1. In short, the victory in Prata was more than a panacea. And Ravenna? The last obstacle is not the easiest: the team from Romagna, currently third, will look for the three points – with champions of the caliber of Guzzo, Goi and Russo, just to name a few – to overcome Brescia or Pordenone at the last corner. The first leg ended 3-1 for our future opponents, in a match that was still played bravely by the team from Macerata.
