Roberto Russo, middle blocker of Sir Susa Vim Perugia, underwent microdiscectomy surgery on the afternoon of Thursday 27 February for the removal of a herniated disc which had been promptly diagnosed last week by the team’s medical staff (Prof. Auro Caraffa, Dr. Giuseppe Sabatino and Dr. Marco Pellegrino assisted by the precious collaboration of Dr. Pucci, Dr. Sala and Dr. Versace).
The operation was performed by Dr. Giuseppe Barone and Dr. Fabrizio Giudici at the Spinal Surgery team of the IRCCS Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Hospital in Milan, as happened in the past for another SIR athlete.
The surgery was a perfect success. In the next few days, the recovery times of the athlete will be evaluated and he will immediately begin a gradual rehabilitation process under the careful guidance of the physiotherapists Giulio Leonardi and Francesco Zappelli, the osteopath Franco Rapalli and the athletic trainer Sebastian Carotti.
