The Gabbiano Farmamed Mantova returns from the away match in Sardinia, on the pitch of Cus Cagliari, with a tie-break victory (the fourth of the season) and two points which allow them to remain in fourth place in the standings, all while waiting to host league leaders Personal Time San Donà on Sunday at the PalaSguaitzer.
Yet another battle lasting over two hours this time was in favor of the team of Simone Serafini, after a match with two faces, or rather three. In the first two sets the Biancazzurri were in total control, but in the third and fourth sets it was the hosts Cus Cagliari who turned the tide of the match and went on to play for the victory in the fifth and decisive set. Gabbiano manages to turn the situation around once again and closes 15-10 thanks to the last point from Baldazzi.
«We hold onto the result of the match in Cagliari – explains spiker Riccardo Scaltriti – in an away game that was not at all easy. We faced a team that, regardless of the standings, is well equipped and has players who are well set on the pitch and who know how to play volleyball. He wasn’t an easy opponent to face, but it’s clear that, after the first two sets, we had to become aware of our means and have a little more cynicism to close the match. Credit must also be given to Cagliari who, by changing the formation, took away many references. This does not mean that what happened must serve as an experience for us for the future. Nobody concedes anything, although the first two sets might have made one think of a one-sided match. We need to reflect on this in view of the final part of the season.”
