Two victories in the last two games, four matches on the calendar until the end of the regular season, five points to recover from fourth-last Sabaudia (who also have one game more) to avoid the survival playout: the season of Bcc Tecbus Castellana Grotte in the A3 Credem Banca men’s volleyball national championship is at a crossroads. For the 19th matchday of the Blue Group, the team coached by Giuseppe Barbone will be engaged in the second consecutive away match on the difficult court of Domotek Reggio Calabria, a team that currently occupies third place in the standings. First serve at 5pm on Sunday 9 February 2025 at Pala Calafiore.
On the other side of the net, however, there will be a Reggio Calabria team that just last Sunday in Sabaudia erased a negative series of two defeats and that at home remains a formidable sextet (so far they have only lost two within friendly walls with Gioia del Colle in the first round and with Sorrento in the last home outing). The Calabrians are led by the former Saverio De Santis, former libero of the New Mater from 2019 to 2023. Just like a former player is the yellow-blue spiker born in 2002 Emanuele Renzo, born in Cosenza, last year in Reggio Calabria: “We approach the next match with the determination to want to score points. We are aware that we are facing a team that will not give us anything on a truly difficult pitch animated by a very enthusiastic fan base. Now, however, we can no longer allow ourselves missteps and we must give our all to achieve salvation. We come to play this match – concluded Renzo – with a streak of consecutive useful results which gives us enthusiasm and the desire to do well.
