Gioiella Prisma Taranto strengthens the squad with the arrival of Hopt: a new opposite for the season finale

Gioiella Prisma Taranto announces the hiring of Jannis Hopt, a 2.05cm German opposite born in 1996 who will join the team to better face the final rush of the season and contribute to the objective of remaining in the Super League. Hopt arrives to replace the opposite Santangelo and to offer new solutions to the rossoblù team, which aims to consolidate its position in the SuperLega.

Hopt, born and raised in the prestigious VfB Friedrichshafen academy, was one of the most promising young talents in German volleyball. With Friedrichshafen he won the title of German U18 Champion in 2012 and the U20 titles in 2014 and 2015. He gained experience in the second Bundesliga with the “Volley YoungStars” and subsequently made his debut in the Bundesliga with Chemie Volley Mitteldeutschland. After overcoming a delicate injury phase, he returned to form with United Volleys Rhein-Main, reaching the PlayOff semi-finals for three consecutive seasons.

Since 2018 he has worn several prestigious shirts, including that of TV Rottenburg, TSV Giesen (where he reinvented himself as a striker) and, more recently, that of Blue Volleys Gotha in the second Bundesliga. In 2022 he embraced VC Eltmann’s project, contributing to the club’s promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga Süd in 2023. Now, with his arrival at Gioiella Prisma Taranto, Hopt will have the opportunity to compete in the most competitive championship in the world: the SuperLega.
