Coming from three consecutive victories between the Italian Cup and the championship, Cucine Lube Civitanova has finally dispelled the taboo of victory outside the Marche region in the SuperLega Credem Banca 2024/25. The success in three sets achieved in Cisterna di Latina, the second away together with the regional derby won in Porto San Giorgio in the first round, brings a haul of three points allowing the red and whites, who still have to make up for the away game in Padua, to take -1 from third place of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and to distance both Rana Verona and Allianz Milano, both six points behind the Cucinieri.
Captain Fabio Balaso and his teammates will return to the gym this afternoon for a double session of weights and technique after an almost perfect Sunday. Despite some small flaws, the result on Pontine soil, the contribution of the group and the continuity of play of Giampaolo Medei’s men marked an important crossroads on the eve of a hot phase of the season, giving strength and motivation to the group. On Wednesday 15 January (7.30 pm), for the quarter-final first leg of the Challenge Cup, the Cucineri will take the field in Holland, at the MartiniPlaza in Groningen, against the insidious Nova Tech Lycurgus Groningen, the top team of their country, while on Sunday 19 January (7.30 pm) Lube will host the Sir Susa Vim Perugia at the Eurosuole Forum for the big match of the 6th return round of the Regular Season. Two important challenges that will precede the two days of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia SuperLega in Bologna, scheduled for 25 and 26 January at the Unipol Arena.
