Once the first round at home The Begin is over, we take stock and look optimistically towards the next matches; assistant coach Paolo Monti analyzes the last match of the Dorians:
“In Acqui the team performed at good levels, managing for long stretches to stem the value of their opponents. Negrini has undoubtedly superior category players among its staff, first of all the captain Iacopo Botto who boasts 9 Super League seasons and 10 Serie A2 championships.
Our boys showed a good game, they played it openly, but from the second half of the sets the strength of the Piedmontese always came out. There is certainly some regret for the second set when, with the entry of Luca Pulita and Marco Santini onto the court, we managed to recover the deficit and also have several set balls. Unfortunately the two blocks, on 26 to 25 and 27 to 26, did not fall, thanks to the careful Piedmontese coverage, capable of replaying and making the action in their favor. If the match had gone to a draw perhaps we could have hoped for a different final outcome but the premise is that Negrini is one of the strongest teams in this group and playing on equal terms with them means that the path we are taking is the right one . We are making the most of the good things we put on the field, race after race, and we are not lacking in optimism to reach our goal.”
The Begin Volley An’s next match will be Sunday 22 December at h. 6.00 pm in San Giustino
