Once again early, this time even on a Friday, for a Yuasa Battery who really can’t (against themselves) play on Sunday. The lights of the OpiquadArena in Monza will therefore be turned on on Friday 13 December, in spite of any superstition, with kick-off at 8pm, for the first day of the second round of the Super League. On the other side of the net is a Mint who, despite being the outgoing Italian vice-champion, in the current season has so far suffered greatly from the many changes that occurred during the summer transfer market and, to date, is second to last in the ranking just ahead of the Grotese team. Against all possible predictions, therefore, Friday evening will be, at least to date, a real survival clash, demonstrating how high the level of this Super League can be.

The opponent of the moment
Massimo Eccheli’s team, currently in second to last place in the standings with seven points under their belt, went from playing in the Italian Cup final last season to not qualifying for the event at all in the current one. A drastic change of pace, in which a summer market which evidently did not have the desired effects inevitably had a huge impact. All this, indeed, excluding top-tier names within the Brianza team, starting with the Brazilian champion Fernando Kreling “Cachopa” in the control room, and “seasoned” but absolutely sensational champions of the caliber of Osmany Juantorena and Ivan Zaytsev.
