The red and whites’ world championship mission will open tomorrow, Saturday 7 December, with the departure for Brazil of the group and staff. The Cucine Lube Civitanova will embark in Rome to reach Uberlandia, where the 2024 Club World Cup will open next week. The itinerary includes a stop in Sao Paulo. Only on Sunday 8 December, the cooks will arrive at the destination, the venue of the event. The debut of the chefs in Pool A is scheduled for Tuesday 10 December at 5.30pm (Italian time) with Foolad Sirjan Iranian, the Asian champion club where Poriya Hossein Khanzadeh played.

On the eve of a very long trip, the cook athletic trainer Max Merazzi answers the usual questions about the team’s conditions.

How does Cucine Lube Civitanova arrive at the world championship?

Merazzi: “We are ready, in the last months and weeks we have worked with good continuity. Until about thirty days ago we played only once a week, while the most recent period has been very intense and full of midweek matches. We feel absolutely ready!”

Was the Challenge Cup trip to Serbia expensive?

“We have just returned from a tiring but very well organized journey. We were good on and off the pitch at managing all aspects. We achieved the result we wanted and we did it quickly, in a decisive manner while also saving physical energy in terms of the Club World Cup.
