“Unpublished not only because it is new, but because it is profoundly different compared to all the previous ones, both for my chapter of life and for that of the then Lube. Landscaping, because for me those years meant discovering a beautiful territory thanks to the constant travel by car with Mascia [Roberto Masciarelli]. Welcoming because I began to experience and understand this special gift of the Marche and its inhabitants.”
Three adjectives with which you would define your first contact with Grottazzolina…
“I deviate a bit from grammar. First of all, a memory of the Macerata years, in which the news of this small reality that was making its name in the national volleyball scene was already arriving. I would then add that I see the positive charge of adolescent enthusiasm, which is not the way to ignore its ten-year history, but to highlight its charge of healthy enthusiasm. Finally, there is the pleasure of some experiences shared outside the field, resulting from the attention to some themes, which despite the distance have made us know more and better”.
What has Volley Lube represented and represents for Italian volleyball, beyond the results?
“Three radically different chapters of history, along which a protagonist of our movement settled and formed: initially a super ambitious reality, then sufficiently patient and finally capable of courageously riding out the long phase in which it dominated. Now, in a further different phase, he is continuing to put his long and dense experience to good use in another way.”
