Rinascita Volley Lagonegro is pleased to announce the arrival of the Argentinian Waldo Kantor, who takes over the technical leadership of the First Team.
Born in 1960, the South American coach enthusiastically embraced the project of president Nicola Carlomagno, immediately making himself available to the club.
Even before becoming an expert coach, Kantor was one of the most talented setters in the world in the 1980s and 1990s: he boasted 350 appearances with his national team, participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and won the bronze medal in those of Seoul four years later.
His list of achievements with the biancoceleste shirt also included a third place at the World Cup held in Argentina in 1982 and participation in the subsequent editions in France (1986) and Brazil (1990). As a club player, however, he won a French championship and a national cup with Paris FC (1996/97 season).
His knowledge of Italian volleyball is also highly appreciated, as a player the new red and white coach has appeared on important stages in the SuperLega and Serie A2 such as Siena, Jesi, Catania, Modena and Schio, for a total of 11 seasons.
In his coaching CV there are many experiences in his homeland both at club and national level (Assistant Coach from ’99 to 2003) before returning to Italy where he led Ravenna (2014-2016) and Vibo Valentia (2016 season /17) in the SuperLega and Catania in Serie A3 from 2021, the club with which he won the promotion playoffs to A2 in 2023. At an international level, experiences in Saudi Arabia and Poland.
