Coach Ortenzi makes no bones about examining a difficult match, perhaps the most difficult played by the Yuasa Battery in the Super League so far, also and above all due to the technical quality of an opponent, Perugia, truly indisputable and not very ‘playable’. “We started out too fearful. In the first 10 points we suffered three blocks, of which we could have covered three balls. Then Perugia played at a great level, making very few mistakes, they pushed hard on serve and it was difficult to stick with them. We made a lot of effort on the high ball attack, but they made us pay for everything on break points. In the second and third sets we tried to stay in the lead but in the end the theme was always the same, we in attack struggled to get the ball down, especially in their more continuous rounds of service. On the other hand, however, they had it too easy.”
An easy life also dictated by knowing how to earn opportunities, thanks to the indisputable technical quality of the players on staff, among the strongest in the world in every single role. “We certainly could have done something better” continues coach Ferno “especially in attack, but we go home with the awareness that this was not the most suitable match to score points, we have to concentrate on another level, this one is a level hard to keep to ourselves. What we take from this match is the fact that we put Petkovic back on the pitch a bit, we needed it for that too and we have to focus on the next ones.”
