Cucine Lube Civitanova’s journey in the Challenge Cup begins in an excellent way: Giampaolo Medei’s cooks, who qualified for the competition thanks to their success in the 5th Place Play Offs at the end of last season, won the first leg of the Round of 32 by winning by 3-0 on the pitch of VK Karlovarsko, a team from the Czech Republic. Excellent responses come from the two Lube hammers, Alex Nikolov and Mattia Bottolo: the first closes with 14 points scored, the second with 12 and with the MVP award of the match. Giovanni Gargiulo also performed well, starting from the start in place of Marko Podrascanin and making his debut in European competitions. To get through to the round, Civitanova will only need to win two sets in the return match scheduled for next Wednesday at the Eurosuole Forum: first, however, the delicate match of SuperLega Credem Banca which will see Lagumdzija and his teammates challenge Valsa Group, in front of their own audience Modena, Sunday 17 November at 6.00 pm.
