Verona and Modena inaugurate the sixth round, with Rai live at 8.30pm. Piacenza hosts Milan on Sunday, the evening postponement (on Rai Sport) will see Perugia face Civitanova
Exciting matches and far from predictable results in the 2024/25 Regular Season. On paper, the 6th first leg of the SuperLega Credem Banca also promises well. Opening the weekend is the preview on Saturday 2 November, live on Rai Sport (start of the match on Rai Play): Verona, fresh from four successes in a row and fourth in the standings thanks to the offensive production of the Malian Noumory Keita (31 on the scoresheet over the weekend), Credem Banca MVP of the month of October, will challenge Modena within friendly walls, seventh with 6 points like Milan and Taranto after the Canaries’ return to victory. On Sunday the day begins with a sign challenge. At 4.00 pm with DAZN live streaming, Piacenza, at the top with the Block Devils and undefeated like the Umbrians despite the thrilling afternoon in Veneto, welcomes Milan, who elbow their way to mid-table after the home misstep against Verona. At 5.00 pm, with exclusive live VBTV, Monza and Taranto will play important points. The Brianza, stuck at 2, are looking for oxygen, the Ionic, already at 6, want the upgrade.
Exclusive live broadcast from VBTV also for the 6pm clash between David and Goliath. The freshman Grottazzolina receives a visit from Trento at the PalaSavelli in Porto San Giorgio; the hosts have only 2 points, but so far they have made almost all their opponents sweat, while the European champions have lost the top spot due to the home stop with Perugia after a long domination in the Regular Season, which began last season. The match at 7.00pm, live streaming on DAZN, pits Cisterna, last in the class, against the surprising Padova, sixth at 7 points thanks to the point taken against Piacenza. The most anticipated face-to-face of the round is the one between Italian champions Perugia and the exuberant Civitanova of the youth.
The “Pregara” area is available with the presentations of the individual matches, the statements of the protagonists, records, former and previous ones.
Round starts with challenge no. 48 between Rana Verona, the fourth strength of the tournament, led by the physical power of Noumory Keita (Credem Banca MVP of October), and Valsa Group Modena, a team on the upswing. The precedents reward the Emilians, victorious 36 times against the 11 of the Scaligeri, but the hosts are coming off four victories in a row, the last one achieved in Milan in four sets, and are looking for the poker game in front of the fans of the Pala Agsm AIM. The Modena team, which returned to victory thanks to the clear 3-0 inflicted on the Monza team, gravitates towards mid-table, but continues to shine on the Buchegger-Rinaldi axis, well assisted by Luciano De Cecco. On the success against the Brianza team there is the signature at the bottom of the former Scaligero player Simone Anzani with 5 personal blocks. Two former players on the bench: Radostin Stoytchev and Dario Simoni coached in Modena.
Delicate challenge between Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and Allianz Milano, with the Emilians ahead 13 to 7 in the previous matches. Over the weekend Andrea Anastasi’s men took 2 points in Padua, while enhancing their young players. The hosts, therefore, share the top of the table at 14 with Perugia and intend to maintain their unbeaten season, but they have to deal with a team that, although alternating current and stuck at six seals, has given more than one demonstration of their potential in the first few moments of the championship. In the last match Roberto Piazza’s team dominated the first set and lost the subsequent ones against Verona without ever leaving the match. Three exes on one side and two on the other for an intersection that promises sparks. Among the Ambrosians Matteo Piano is in race no. 300 in Regular Season.
Crossroads for Mint Vero Volley Monza, who scored 2 points, both won on their debut. Massimo Eccheli’s giants receive a visit from Gioiella Prisma Taranto, a rival already beaten 6 times out of 7. Dante Boninfante’s Ionic players have put aside a haul of 6 points and with a successful blitz in Brianza they could take flight towards more important goals ambitious. In the last round Monza finally showed up at the PalaPanini in Modena with a full team, but was unable to make an impact in a match immediately directed and managed by the hosts, while Taranto made its voice heard in four sets at the PalaMazzola against the freshman Grottazzolina . Four exes on the pitch: Gabriele Di Martino and Ibrahim Lawani on one side, Marco Rizzo and Jan Zimmermann on the other. Furthermore, assistant Antonello Andriani has a history at Gioiella. Personal records in the sights for Thomas Beretta on one front and Andrea Santangelo on the other.
Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina dreams of tripping up the European champions Itas Trentino. Beyond coat of arms and technical values, whoever shows up at PalaSavelli must sweat for victory. The 10 point difference between the two teams is a fact, but the fact that the newly promoted team has never given anything to anyone is another observation. Fabio Soli and Adriano Di Pinto (the latter knows Marche volleyball well) know they have to properly boost the team before the trip to Porto San Giorgio. The hosts returned empty-handed from Taranto, losing the advantage of the fourth set to extend the match to the tie-break, while the guests fell at home against Perugia, giving up the lead and slipping to -2 from the lead. Two former Dolomite players play in Yuasa, Oleg Antonov (19 points in 2000 in Serie A) and Michele Fedrizzi, the latter unavailable until now. Race no. 200 in his career for the gialloblù Alessandro Acquarone.
A lot of desire to move the rankings in the fourth match between Cisterna Volley and Sonepar Padova. The Pontini team, last by 1 point, have to cancel Sunday’s test in Civitanova, which ended without any athlete from the Lazio group in double figures. A surprise, given that in the previous matches they had sold their lives dearly. The Venetian team, however, enjoys sixth place with 7 points and came very close to taking full advantage at home with Piacenza, but then had to bow to the tie-break, still gaining a precious point thanks also to the performances of Luca Porro and Veljko Masulovic. The only ex of the match is the central Enrico Diamantini (14 winning attacks at 500 in the Regular Season). On the opposite front, close records for Andrea Truocchio (17 points in the 500m) and Marko Sedlacek (14 winning attacks in the 500m).
What is attracting attention is the postponement scheduled at the PalaBarton between Sir Susa Vim Perugia and Cucine Lube Civitanova. This is meeting no. 66 between two teams who always faced each other openly, often for important objectives and in inside or outside games. At the moment, in head-to-head matches the Block Devils are ahead (33 successes to 32), who could catch up with Simone Giannelli and lead the standings hand in hand with Piacenza after the feat achieved in Trento. An exploit in four sets on the court of the ilT Quotidiano Arena with a wild Oleh Plotnytskyi (35 points in 2000 in Italy). The Marche team came from a convincing success obtained with the maximum margin at home and consolidated fifth position, but the best news is the playing time granted by Giampaolo Medei to Alex Nikolov, who appeared in good form. One ex on each side on the roster: Davide Candellaro and Marko Podrascanin. Special match for three red and whites: Mattia Boninfante is in match no. 100 in his career, Santiago Orduna at no. 400 in Italy and Francesco Bottolo at no. 100 in regular seasons.
