Clear victory for Sir Susa Vim Perugia against Valsa Group Modena, in the match that opens the third day of SuperLega Credem Banca. The yellow-blues start off strong straight away, Buchegger pushes both in serve and in attack and it’s 10-7 with a timeout for the visiting team. The set continues on the edge of balance, Modena fights and Perugia responds: winning attack by a wild Buchegger, 17-17. The Umbrian team tries the decisive extension, ace from Russo and 20-22. Modena doesn’t give up but an extraordinary defense by Colaci and the subsequent attack by Semeniuk give the first set to Perugia, 23-25. Balance also prevails at the beginning of the second set, we fight for every ball and after a long exchange it is 8-8 with Gutierrez’s hand-out. A few too many errors made by Modena allow Perugia to extend, Buchegger’s attack goes out and it’s 11-15. Lorenzetti’s team tries to escape further, block on Gutierrez and 16-20 with Giuliani timeout. Perugia maintains high concentration and also takes home the second set, 19-25 and 2-0. Balance also in the first exchanges of the third set, Rinaldi breaks through Perugia’s wall and 10-9 in favor of Modena. The yellow-blues believe it, 13-10 with Semeniuk’s attack out and timeout called by Lorenzetti. Perugia tries to mend the gap, but Modena isn’t there: Davyskiba goes on attack, 17-15. However, the Umbrian team raises its voice, first two consecutive aces from Ben Tara and then Russo’s block hand the partial and match to Perugia, 21-25 and 0-3.
