First away match and first advance for Saturday for Campi Reali Cantù. Coach Alessandro Mattiroli’s boys will face MA Acqua S. Bernardo Cuneo on their court, with kick-off scheduled for Saturday 12 October 2024 at 7.00 pm. The Cuneo team comes from a good victory on the Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia field, a match that ended in a tie-break.

Coach Alessandro Mattiroli presents the challenge like this: “Cuneo is a team that we know very well, and we know its value having faced them twice in the pre-season. It will be very difficult to counter their characteristics: the players have a great deal of experience, and know this category very well, if not the superior one. It will be a very tough away match, but let’s try to counter them to get into the game and play until the end.”

THE OPPONENTS

Coach Matteo Battocchio is in his second consecutive season on the Cuneo bench. In the control room is one of the most expert setters in the category, Daniele Sottile, who grew up in the Piedmont youth sector and “returned to base” last year after many years of SuperLega. The opposite is Davide Brignach, a product of the “cantera” of Trento who arrived in Piedmont this summer. Two new faces also in the squad: the former Felice Sette has arrived in Porto Viro two years ago, and the Estonian Karli Allik has already been seen in the Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce shirt. Two confirmations in the center for one of the most experienced couples in the category: Marco Volpato, 11 seasons in Padua before arriving at MA Acqua S. Bernardo, and Lorenzo Codarin, in his fifth year in Cuneo. Domenico Cavaccini arrived in the role of libero in the summer – he too has many years of experience between the SuperLega and Serie A2 Credem Banca.
