Morning in the weight room for preventive sessions and afternoon training on the taraflex for President Gino Sirci’s boys, who will leave for Poland tomorrow morning to participate in the third edition of the “Bogdanka Volley Cup”, a quadrangular event staged at the Hala Globus in Lublin .
The prestigious international tournament is named after Tomasz Wójtowicz, Polish volleyball player, world champion in ’74 and Olympic champion two years later, who passed away two years ago following a long illness. The Block Devils will take the field with three Polish teams: the local team LKPS Lublin, Jastrzębski Węgiel and Asseco Resovia.
The group led by Angelo Lorenzetti will train on the Polish pitch tomorrow at 6.30pm and on Saturday the 7th they will play the first of the two semi-finals, scheduled for 5pm with the hosts Lublin, followed by the second semi-final . The afternoon of Sunday 8 September will open at 3.30pm with the match to assign third place and the final is scheduled for 6pm.
Two straight matches and an international trip which will certainly be useful for the group to warm up their engines for the upcoming season, as the Juventus coach underlined:
«It is an important occasion because this team, compared to last year, will not have the week together for the World Championship, so these are four days in which we will find a way to be together and this is very useful for a club that does not it is a national team and therefore does not live twenty-four hours together and therefore in addition to the technical aspect which will be important – because in a quadrangular they are all “inside-outside” games, which are different from regular season games and we want to learn to play these matches here – in addition to this there is the fact of being together and the style with which to do it depends on us and I hope that it is a useful style for creating the first foundations for a good group».
The first edition of the “Bogdanka Volley Cup” was won by the home team Bogdanka LUK Lublin, while in the second edition, last year, Saturna Catania triumphed.
