Cucine Lube Civitanova has its new captain. The libero Fabio Balaso, in his seventh season in the red and white, will have the rank of leader and will therefore be the successor of Luciano De Cecco, who migrated to Modena in the summer. Coach Giampaolo Medei thus wanted to reward the Venetian athlete, born in 1995, the greatest of the group and an authentic point of connection between the old and new Lube cycle. Fabio has always been a leader on the pitch with convincing performances and in recent years he has won titles with the Marche club and the Italian national team thanks to his talent, the consistency of his performances and the approach to training that has earned him the nickname “machine”. The kitchen staff has not yet announced who Balaso’s deputy will be.

Seven years ago, after my arrival in the red and white, I never expected to come so far. When, thanks to a ‘tip’ from some comrades who were already in the gathering, I learned that I had been chosen, I was excited. A few days later coach Giampaolo Medei officially informed me and so I was certain. It is not an easy role and I will try to carry out the task in the best possible way. This role certainly makes me responsible, both on the pitch and in my relationship with my teammates in the locker room. The goal I have set for myself is to confirm that I am up to par and pick up where we finished last year, putting heart, muscle and concreteness into the game because Lube must fight for the top.
