Team Volley Napoli, which this year will be branded GAIA Energy, met at Palasiani for the first training of the season. With all the management and technical staff present, DG Francesco Matano warmly welcomed the athletes, especially the new arrivals, immediately putting everyone at ease, illustrating the programs and presenting the Neapolitan reality.
The roster of the Neapolitan team has been strongly renewed with the excellent work of DS Comite, which sees the reconfirmation of the setter Leone, promoted to captain, the libero Ardito, the striker Simone Starace, the central defenders Martino and the evergreen Saccone, but also the arrival of a large number of athletes from outside the region, the opposite spiker Lugli, the central defender Lanciani, the setter Gianotti, the spiker Sportelli. The young spiker Michele Starace also arrives from outside the region, fresh from the experience of the super League and the national under 20 team, but a boy originally from the Sorrento peninsula, while the other opposite spiker Dotti is a product of the academy; finally the young Volpe arriving from Rione Terra Volley will join the team in the role of second libero.
At the end of the opening speech the ball went to Mr. Calabrese who led the first training session while the trainer Antonio de Matteis conducted the athletic tests to best plan the preparation phase for the championship; the boys also carried out medical examinations.
“It was a challenging summer – began DS Corrado Comite, who then continued – we had set ourselves the objective of renewing the squad and making a group of athletes available to Mister Sergio Calabrese who brought different experiences and who were true professionals; without taking anything away from the professionalism of those who have worn the shirt in recent seasons, it was time to take this further step of growth, a new organizational challenge and stimulus for our entire context. We are very satisfied with the boys who chose to play the A3 CREDEM championship wearing the Napoli shirt, aware that we will, once again, face a very tough season, with only 11 teams it will be forbidden to make mistakes, but we are certain that everyone will give the best.”
Mister Calabrese echoed this: “the company has made important investments, raising the bar, this also entails greater responsibility on our part in the work we are going to carry out”.
