ErmGroup Volley Altotevere has appointed the new captain of the team that will take part in the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship and the choice fell on spiker Niccolò Cappelletti, who for the third consecutive season will wear the blue and white jersey. With Davide Marra’s departure from playing volleyball, there was one issue left to resolve, that relating to his successor with the captaincy for the 2024/’25 season. “A new beginning – commented Niccolò Cappelletti – and I believe that this important task constituted recognition not only of the seriousness and commitment that I have made in the previous two years, but also of the attachment towards the company and towards the goodness of its project, which I fully embrace. And it is precisely in the name of this that, when the need arose following Simone Marzolla’s injury, I agreed to change role. Now I have the added responsibility of being the captain and therefore of acting as an example for my teammates, but I will also carry out this task as best I can.” CEO Claudio Bigi explains the reasons for this choice: “For the first time since I have been at the helm of the company, together with the other partners, I have decided that the choice of captain should be made by the company itself. I am a man of sport and I come from a world like that of football, in which the choice of captain is almost always delegated to the team group in complete harmony with the technical staff. This time, however, once I understood that this year would be Davide Marra’s last year, I wanted the club to decide on the assignment of this role.” An important choice, the Biancazzurro CEO is keen to point out: “We didn’t spend much time choosing the name; Niccolò Cappelletti, in these three years, has amply demonstrated loyalty towards our project. Seriousness, dedication to work, professionalism and, in the last season, even the sacrifice of changing roles, demonstrate how close Niccolò is to the club. These characteristics were noticed not only by us, but also by other associations, who courted the player for a long time in this phase of the transfer market, but honestly he never wavered in the face of so many requests. If there was any need, this is a further demonstration of affection towards us.
