“We are completing all the procedures and preparing ourselves as best we can for the training camp, which will begin in Cascia this year. The team’s first training will be on August 20th, that day the group’s preparation will begin in view of the start of the championship. These are the last days of holidays for our players, but in reality the organizational work has been underway for some time now.” The vice-president of Emma Villas Siena, Fabio Mechini, gives an overview of the situation in view of the start of the team’s preparation. The first week of work will be in Umbria, in Cascia, starting from Tuesday 20 August. The team will then return to training in Siena from Monday 26 August.

Mechini continues: “Here in Siena the PalaEstra is not yet available due to the work underway in the sports hall. Furthermore, we would have had some difficulties with the logistics of starting preparation in Siena in the next few days. For this reason we decided to carry out the first week of retreat and work in Umbria. As regards the Cascia solution, we encountered great availability from the municipal council and local structures, even some local companies proposed to become part of our circuit. We are the only Tuscan volleyball team remaining in Serie A, which makes us proud and at the same time makes us responsible for the work we are called to do for the first team and also for the youth sector. We will have to work hard, in what is a beautiful and important moment for Italian volleyball which has placed its national teams in the first four places of the Olympic tournament in both the men’s and women’s categories, with the women managing to win a historic gold. Today volleyball is the second sport in Italy, for members and beyond; volleyball is nice to experience throughout the season and we have had a team in Serie A for many years now.”

Emma Villas Siena comes from an important season, in which the Sienese team managed to reach the playoff final of the A2 series. The transfer made by the white and blue club was important, with confirmations in last year’s roster (Nevot, Trillini, Bonami, Pellegrini, Coser as well as obviously coach Graziosi) and with relevant additions and players of experience and quality who arrived in Tuscany. “There are some clubs that have set up excellent rosters and that will try to win the A2 championship – declares Mechini. – Various teams have made an important transfer, I am thinking of Brescia, Catania, Cuneo, Ravenna, Prata di Pordenone. We too are among those clubs that have achieved a good transfer market.
