“Certain loves don’t end, they take immense turns and then come back” and this is how La Bollente Volleyball is pleased to announce a welcome return to the management staff: Carmelo Costa, known to everyone simply as “Melo”, returns to collaborate with Negrini CTE as operations director after having been team manager from 2020 to 2023.

Three seasons which he describes like this: “I spent three very different seasons in Acqui Terme: the first marked by Covid which created quite a few problems. In the second year we reached the play offs, but there was another fairly important Covid period plus a series of injuries that were not easy to manage. The third season was the best in terms of objectives achieved, having obtained promotion and victory in the Italian Cup, but also the most challenging in my role and so I decided to take a year off because I didn’t feel like facing another year at those paces in a tough championship like Serie A”

After a “sabbatical” year, a new call arrived from La Bollente Volleyball. And hence the decision to return, albeit in a different capacity: “The call from the club surprised me quite a bit: they had faced a first season in Serie A3 managed very well from a roster and organizational point of view, however the insistence with which I was searched surprised me because, despite an A2 level staff, it means that my professional figure will be able to be useful again in some way. I will collaborate in a different capacity than in the past. In the past I was responsible for both managing the team in all its daily needs (transfers, medical visits) and supporting DS Negrini in the signing campaign, an activity that took up a lot of my time and which I can no longer guarantee. Now I will continue to deal with away games, in particular with all communications between clubs from an organizational point of view regarding both when we go to play at other teams’ homes and when the other teams play at our place. I will no longer be in the gym every day and will therefore no longer take care of daily needs and training, which team manager Oscar Zaramella always takes care of every day, but rather of all external needs. We will have two complementary roles, we will work closely together, but we will deal with different aspects”

In conclusion Melo declares:

“This opportunity to return flatters me because it means that in the past I have left good feedback with my work”
