The Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza season restarted today with a lot of enthusiasm as it faces its sixth consecutive Superlega Credem Banca championship. Since yesterday afternoon the players, not engaged with their respective national teams at the Paris Olympics or to support dedicated teams with the national selections, have been in Piacenza where they have undergone various physical tests and this morning they carried out a session in the weight room under the guidance of the athletic trainer Davide Grigoletto.
The afternoon opened with vice president Giuseppe Bongiorni greeting the technical staff and players and with the meeting with journalists at the end of which coach Andrea Anastasi started preparation in front of a good number of fans. Training sessions which, at least in the first part, will be characterized by the presence in the gym of less than half of the players in the squad. All the others, in fact, are working with their respective national teams.
Six players were present at coach Andrea Anastasi’s first call-up: Robertlandy Simon, Robbert Andringa, Leonardo Scanferla, Fabio Ricci as well as the new Nicola Salsi and Moussé Gueye.
The technical and medical staff that will work with the coach from Mantua throughout the season is complete: in addition to the Sports Director Ninni De Nicolo and the team manager Alessandro Fei, the assistant coach Roberto Rotari, the assistant coach Matteo Bologna, the physiotherapist Riccardo Anfosso, the Athletic Trainer Davide Grigoletto who in this first phase will be assisted by Francesco Rizzi, the Scout Man Antonio Mariano and the Osteopath Giovanni Berzioli.
After today’s double training, rest day tomorrow and then from Monday 5 August four days with double training between weight room, practice and technique, beach volleyball and swimming pool. Friday 9 August training session only in the morning and then break ranks for Saturday and Sunday free.
Giuseppe Bongiorni (Vice President of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza): “We are ready to face a new season with great intentions and expectations, trying to capitalize on the experience gained in recent years to always do better. Many countries are trying to raise the bar but I believe the Italian championship remains the most difficult and beautiful in the world, a championship that teaches us that sometimes making the difference is a question of centimeters if not millimetres, it’s a question of nuances . A team has been created with several new additions, a right balance between youth and experience, I am convinced that it is a more consistent and balanced team, then it will be the coach’s job to help these young talents grow, manage situations and bring the team to the top in the key moments.”
