With an Olympics still to be had, where Theo Faure (France) and Aleksandar Nedeljkovic (Serbia) will be present, Cisterna Volley is enjoying a protagonist summer, with Alessandro Fanizza and Jacopo Tosti on the pitch in the recent Under 22 and Under European Championships 18, where in both cases Italy obtained the silver medal.

The new Cisterna Volley setter found continuity in the sextet, leaving his place in the control room on only one occasion, against France in the group stage. At the same time, Tosti was ready when called into action by coach Cresta, giving his contribution to the excellent progress of the Italian team, playing as a protagonist in the last match of the group against the Czech Republic. There are plans for the Roman centre-back also the Under 17 World Championships in Bulgaria, scheduled from 24 to 31 August.

“I am very happy with the results achieved by Fanizza and Tosti – says coach Falasca – I haven’t had the chance to train him yet but both I and the club believe in him a lot. For him, this experience will be just a part of a journey that could have much more in store for him. Tosti started working with the first team last year, he is a golden boy with enormous potential. This year he will in all respects be part of the Super League roster because we think he can have ample room for improvement. For both of them, these experiences were important for their growth, with the hope that they will continue this path, given their talent and the right mentality. Faure conquered the Olympics performance after performance, being ready as in the VNL semi-final. Nedeljkovic has grown a lot in one year in Cisterna, it will be important for our team to continue improving.”

Cisterna Volley will be one of the teams with the lowest average age to participate in the next Super League, with a roster partially confirmed to give continuity to a project started a year ago: “Our first objective was to continue with the path started last season. We have confirmed the entire sextet with the exception of Piccinelli, where Pace will be in the libero role, a boy we are banking on a lot. The other elements of the roster can help us a lot, to provide alternatives and raise the level of training. Czerwinski did well with his national team, Diamantini is absolutely not a reserve, he will play for his place. Rivas and Tarumi are top-level athletes, the level of the fourteen has risen a lot, with the hope that this will then have results on the pitch.”
