He led Consoli to win its first A2 Italian Cup, taking home the title of MVP and in the following weekend he made his attackers dance in a crescendo that also took them to the finish line of the Super Cup, yet Simone Tiberti doesn’t talk much about himself through victories, as well as in difficult moments, in which we need to stay clear and keep the team together.

The one who thanked loudly in the end-of-year greetings, making it clear that Consoli is either everyone or no one, there is no individualism and protagonism, there is work and team spirit. And it is with those that the Toucans recovered after the unexpected exclusion from the Play offs and made their way among the big teams of the season to go and take the stage in the Cup, without fuss, with calm and tranquility. After the defeat in the round of 16 in Reggio Emilia, the white and blue number 5 was able to lash out at his teammates without giving them any extenuating circumstances and he hit the right buttons, because since that 21st April the desire to hit the target and the understanding on the pitch have been the extra weapon. During the weekends in Cuneo and Grottazzolina, much of the success came precisely from the compactness of the Brescia group, which rallied around its captain who was not in perfect physical condition, but who was nevertheless on the pitch to honor the Final Four. Simone Tiberti, in addition to his technique and vision of the game, has this gift: he is a leader, someone who inspires and is not afraid of that responsibility.

The numbers confirm it: next season will be his tenth season with his city’s shirt, after the previous fifteen spent on the A2 and Super League pitches. At almost 44 years old he has scored 1085 points of which 321 blocks, 157 aces and 361 attacks and he is not ready to stop.

“I always say that I navigate by sight and that I decide what will happen in the next championship also based on how the season went – explains the captain -. And this year I am particularly happy to continue: both the desire I still have to play and the recent results have convinced me. I have a lot of motivation and desire to be in a group and fight for great goals. This year’s squad is very competitive but volleyball is a sport in which hypothetical values and names do not appear on the pitch, instead you need to demonstrate that you are the best from match to match.  I hope that the Cup and the Super Cup have taught us that we win by suffering and we win by helping ourselves.”
