Niccolò Ciccolella, Federico Guadagnini and Riccardo Iervolino are the confirmations from which New Mater Volley Castellana Grotte starts again to update its roster in view of the 2024/2025 season which will see it involved in the national A3 men’s volleyball championship.
Three young people who were already part of the first team last season and who will find themselves as protagonists under the orders of coach Giuseppe Barbone.
Ciccolella, a central defender from Puglia born in 2004, originally from Bari, 195 cm, last season put together 109 points in 75 sets played in 26 appearances in Serie A2. Product of the Materdominivolley Castellana Academy, he already played in Serie A3 two years ago with Pallavolo Bari. He will wear the number 5 shirt.
Guadagnini, also from Puglia but from Brindisi, libero born in 2004, 186, will be in his second season with New Mater, promoted to starting libero for the first year: in the last A2 series he carved out an important space for himself, especially in the second part of the championship . Also a product of the yellow-blue youth sector, he also won a championship in Serie A2 (in the 2022/2023 season in Casarano). He will change number next season and wear number 6.
Iervolino, a hammer from Brescia born in 2003, 193 cm, remains in Castellana Grotte after 31 points in the 38 sets played in Serie A2 last year. The Brescia hammer will be in his first year in the A3 series after experiences with Brescia, Porto Viro and Castellana Grotte in the cadet tournament. I’ll change number for him too: he will wear 16.
