Just over two weeks before the start of the next Olympics, the official lists of the rosters that will take part in the competition have been released.
Participants include Theo Faure and Aleksandar Nedeljkovic, who will represent Cisterna Volley at the 33rd edition of the modern era Olympics in Paris, taking place between 27 July and 11 August 2024. The two athletes from the Pontine collective have been included in Pool A, where in addition to France and Serbia, there are also Canada and Slovenia. Among the ranks of the Serbians there is also Pavle Peric, protagonist in the last season with the colors of Cisterna Volley. The match between Faure and Nedeljkovic will take place on Sunday 28 July at 5pm.

THE FORMULA-The volleyball tournament will begin with the three pools of four teams each in the preliminary phase. The top two from each Pool and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals. The direct elimination phase will begin on Monday 5 August with the start of the quarter-finals. Wednesday 7 August will be the day of the two semi-finals, Friday 9 August will be played for bronze, and Saturday 10 August the final for Olympic gold.

“The path to qualifying was long and tortuous – says Nedeljkovic – The Olympics was our main objective. After last year’s difficulties we knew that this summer would be decisive. Even though the finish line came at the last minute, getting to the Olympics like this wasn’t easy but it’s certainly a special emotion. Since I was a child I dreamed of participating in the games, now all this is reality. We are training a lot to be in the best possible condition, personally I will aim to play as many games as possible. Playing in the Super League helped me on this path, allowing me to improve a lot, which is why I’m happy to be able to continue another year in Cisterna.”
Nedeljkovic will find Faure on the other side of the net: “Without a doubt it will be a very interesting match – analyzes the center back born in ’97 – With Theo we are good friends, then on the pitch I am sure that we will both be concentrated on giving our best for our teams” .
