Rinascita Lagonegro closes the spikers’ battery with an elite strike: the signing of Rocco Panciocco is official. This is a welcome return: in fact the 25-year-old Roman player has already worn the red and white shirt in the 2022/23 season, the last of president Carlomagno’s club in Serie A2.

Superfine talent, imposing physique (200 centimetres), Panciocco enriches the department with his considerable experience, seasoned with 9 total seasons in Serie A and 69 victories in 184 matches played.

Raised in the youth teams of Santa Monica Volleyball, Rocco competed in the A2 series at the age of sixteen (2015/2016 season) thanks to his experience in the Federal Academy of Club Italia, remaining there until 2018. In his career he then wore the Maury’s jerseys Italiana Assicurazioni Tuscania, Castellana Grotte and Emma Villas Siena, also on the A2. Two years ago, in fact, he arrived in Lagonegro where he had his best season in terms of points scored (310) despite being relegated to A3 at the end of the championship. The move to Ravenna last year allows him to still remain in the second category, before moving to Pineto in November and finishing the season there. In between, in May, the prestigious call-up to the collegiate team also arrives with the Senior Italian national team coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi. These are his overall numbers in the nine seasons played in A2, between the championship and the Italian Cup: 1237 points scored, of which 1037 in attack, 84 on serve and 116 on blocks.

Panciocco thus translates his newfound embrace with the Rinascita family: “I chose Lagonegro first and foremost because after the season two years ago I still have a bitter taste in my mouth: the Club and the cities of Lagonegro and Villa d’Agri do not deserve this category. There has always been great respect and sympathy with President Carlomagno, a chat on the phone with him was enough to convince me to return to where I had already enjoyed myself. La Rinascita is a serious and professional club, the best in the Central South. I don’t see it it’s time to take the field at the Palasport and give everything together with coach Lorizio and the boys: I’m convinced that we have everything it takes to have fun, entertain and why not, take a few pebbles off our backs.”
