An important piece is added to the Avimecc Volley Modica roster. The transfer men of the Modica association, in fact, managed to bring the talented and promising spiker Francesco Barretta into the shadow of the Castello dei Conti.
In the under 20 national team, Barretta was born in 2005, originally from Aversa, he arrives in the City of the County from Just British Bari, but despite his young age, what he will play with the “Galletti” shirt will be his fourth championship in A3 series.
193 centimeters tall, Barretta was strongly supported by coach Enzo Distefano who was supported by the Modica management.
“Barretta is a young athlete that I had already ‘eyed’ last year – explains coach Enzo Distefano – and this year I insisted a lot on having him on our roster and for this I thank the management for having supported me. He is a young man with perspective and a hard worker who was already on the roster of several Italian clubs – he continues – he is part of the national under 20 team with which he recently participated in a ‘collegiate’ season. I am convinced that he will give us a big hand in the spiking department, both for his strong attacking skills and for his technical potential which I believe can be useful to our project. I am very happy to be able to train him in Modica – concludes Enzo Distefano – I believe he can immediately fit into the group we are training, both in terms of mentality and work methodology and I hope to repay the club for the choice made”.
After standing out with the Volley Meta Sorrento shirt, Francesco Barretta landed in Serie A3 in the 2021/2022 season, where he defended the colors of Wow Green House Aversa. Two seasons with his city’s shirt and then last season the transfer to Bari.
The experiences gained with the blue shirt of the national team are also different for him, among the most important are the European under 17 championship in 2021, the “Cornacchia Word League” in Pordenone in 2023, the “Youth Olympic Festival” in Maribor in Slovenia and the WEVZA under 19 tournament in Portugal.
Now Barretta is ready for his first adventure in Sicily with the blue and white shirt of Avimecc Volley Modica.
