There is little doubt about the fact that what will come will be a rather “international” Yuasa Battery, considering the varied origins of the athletes who will be part of it.
Among them, one of the most experienced and with the “heaviest” curriculum is certainly Dusan Petkovic, a Serbian giant called upon to contribute, with points, to the most difficult undertaking, namely that of managing to maintain a place in the Olympus of the Super League .
Yet Petkovic knows how to do it, being the current holder of the points record in the Super League. Records, indeed, given that he is always the one to occupy the first two steps of this special podium, respectively with 590 points in the 2018-19 season, when he surpassed himself compared to the 508 of the previous year.
And just in 2017, in his first season in Italy, there were two special boys who shared Sora’s shirt with him. Two boys who, in the meantime, have become heroes in Grottazzolina, namely Andrea Mattei and Rasmus Breuning Nielsen: “Yes, it’s true” – says Petkovic, who is enjoying the last weeks of rest in his Belgrade – “that year was very good for us, we were younger, we worked well together and achieved good results, I have very fond memories of these two guys, wonderful people.”

Now, curious cases of life that always puts you at crossroads, the destinies of these three boys intersect again: in fact it will be Petkovic himself who will have to replace, on the pitch and in the hearts of the Grotese fans, the Viking striker Breuning who in the meantime flew to Athens. To welcome the Serbian opposite, in Grottazzolina, there will once again be Andrea Mattei, a certainty of the Yuasa of yesterday, but also of today and hopefully of tomorrow.
Petkovic is not a guy who hides behind stock phrases and circumstantial words, and although he has already gained plenty of experience and points, his words immediately reveal his desire to step into the role that his new club has decided to entrust to him. : “I am very happy to return to Italy, I do it with a lot of desire and enthusiasm. I believe that with our common commitment we will be able to achieve our goal, which is to keep the club in the most important championship in the world. I come to help the club grow and my personal objective is the same as the club’s: to achieve the best possible results as a team. If I had not been convinced that I could achieve this historic goal I would not have accepted the proposal. I can’t wait to meet the fans, I know it’s a hot place and that excites me.”
